Lady Gaga’s wider-than-life eyes were most likely generated by a computer, but teenagers and young women nationwide have been copying them with special contact lenses imported from Asia. Known as circle lenses, these are colored contacts — sometimes in weird shades like violet and pink — that make the eyes appear larger because they cover not just the iris, as normal lenses do, but also part of the whites.

Weird, yes. But dangerous too. Apparently the circle lenses that are all the rage are not being sold legally in the United States, where selling any type of contact lens without a prescription is illegal. But for $30 a pop, you can find the lenses all over the web.

“In the past year, there’s been a sharp increase in interest here in the U.S.,” Joyce Kim, founder of Soompi.com, an Asian pop fan site, told the NYT. “Once early adopters have adequately posted about it [on forums], discussed it and reviewed them, it’s now available to everyone.” Available to everyone, and in every shape, size, and color. Unlike the legal lenses which have doctor prescribed strengths and sizes, the circle lenses sold online ask you to choose the details of your lenses.

I just happened to stumble upon the EVA Racing site while reading about the EVA Racing Motorcycle at ANN.

Since I love Evangelion and I like cool cars (who doesn’t?), merging both is just a great idea! And the Super GT Toyota Corolla Axio they used for this EVA modification looks perfect.

Although, I’m biased towards Mitsubishi and Mazda cars, the cool bodywork and paint job on this Toyota is just awesome! ^^

And what would a Race Car be without it’s Race Queens?

Sticking with the Evangelion theme, the EVA Race Queens, Noa Mizutani and Yuuna Chiba, as expected, are in costumes based on the Evangelion characters, Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley, respectively.

Aside from the EVA Race Car, EVA Racing also has the EVA-inspired Kawasaki ZX-10R superbike, which is also based on the colors of the EVA-01 unit from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Apparently, the 1:1 scale Gundam that was erected in Odaiba, Japan is actually REAL and has now flown all the way to Shizuoka, Japan.

Ok, not really. But let’s hope that one day that we can live to see a real full-size Gundam in action. ^^;

In the video above, artist Yoshitoshi Abe uses LiveSketch HD [$0.99] to sketch one of his characters named Ain. Yoshitoshi’s normal medium is pencil and paper, but you can see that the detail he achieves in the sketch on the iPad is almost in parity with his pencil sketches.

What’s even more impressive is that he does the sketch in under four minutes and uses only one hand. As you can see in the video, his other hand is busy holding his iPhone 3GS, which he is using to record his creation. Ah, when talent and technology meet.
