The Best of Anime is back! Now on its fourth year of being one of the most awaited anime convention in country it continues to bring the culture, art, and entertainment of Japan to Filipinos across the metro. This coming September 14 to 15 at Function Rooms 3 & 4 at the SMX Convention Center, promises to be an exciting event for anime, manga, and cosplay fans across the metro. Best of Anime 2013 will be filled with fun activities that otakus and con-goers will love.
Look forward to what “Best of Anime (BoA)” has to offer to loyal BoA patrons. Anime, manga and cosplay fanatics, gamers, figure collectors, photographers, artists, and general Japanophiles will find activities, merchandise, and booths that will match their interests at the Best of Anime 2013.
The first day will start with a bang as Joe Inoue leads the ribbon-cutting ceremony opening the greatly anticipated festival. The show begins with a Cosplay Make-Up and Wig Styling Workshop. A stylist from Hair Asia will be invited to teach cosplayers basic cosplay make-up, basic crossdress make-up, advanced fantasy make-up, and wig styling for guys characters, to name a few. The stage will also be graced by young designers of DLSL – BridJe who will show their very own anime-inspired creations in a fashion show. Con-goers will also have the opportunity to learn how to give voice to their favorite anime characters with the Voice Acting Workshop. Cosplayers will also get the chance to meet their favorite cosplay siblings, Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao at Best of Anime 2013. Anime music fans should get ready to battle it out on stage for Battle of the Bands. And then listen to their favorite JRock music as Asian Chicken Fest and Stigma of Disgrace play fan favorite music.
Second day event highlights includes another wave of workshops starting with Game Up: The Know-How on Game Dev Workshop as demonstrated by the professional game developers; followed by the returning SuperClickers101, a workshop that will help you capture memorable or mind-blowing sets conducted by a professional photographer. A well-known harajuku-inspired boutique will teach the audience how to rock on style as they showcase their newest designs to otakus and fashion enthusiasts in a dazzling fashion show. Catch the funniest and wackiest entries who made it to the cut at the parody contest, Happily Ever Laughter: An Anime Music Video Contest. Find out what’s new in browser gaming during the New Game Launch of a growing game website. Winners of the Battle of the Bands will take center stage as they join Evening Tea Time and Asterysk* for the part two of Jrock Music performances.
More event highlights will make a comeback, too. Quick-handed artists will get to battle each other in the Quickdraw Competition set on the first day of the convention. Professional and celebrated blogger, Magnetic-Rose, will again impart knowledge on blogging etiquettes, forms and ways in a Blogging Workshop. The All-Star Cosplay Competition will return as well, in this open-category competition wherein the audience will expect a head-to-head contest between eastern and western characters. The Best of Anime Cosplay Competition will level up as “The Best of Anime” becomes a World Cosplay Summit Philippine Qualifier! The winners of the NCR Leg might just be chosen as the Philippines’ representative in the renowned World Cosplay Summit in Japan in 2014!
This year, apart from Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao, other world-renowned cosplayers from Thailand will grace the event. Cosplayers will get the chance to meet Karael Sanguis, famous for his cosplays and crossdressess in which he has spicecrossdressed as Sheryl Nome of Macross Fronteir; Reira Serizawa of Nana; and Alice of Resident Evil, just to name a few. Joining Karael are JiakiDarkness and YukiGodbless, cosplay winners in their own country who represented Thailand in the World Cosplay Summit in 2011. JiakiDarkness and YukiGodbless will also wow the Filipino audience as they showcase their winning performance at BoA. Adding greatly to the excitement to the festival is the appearance and performance of multi-talented Japanese artist Joe Inoue. He is the voice, mind, and music behind the songs “CLOSER” from Naruto Shippuden and “Kaze no Gotoku” from Gintama, and the co-host of Japanese music program, J-MELO.
These world-class talents will make the competitions spicier as they will be also sit in as judges to the different contests. Japanese artist Joe Inoue adds excitement to the Battle of the Bands with his expert ears. International Cosplayers Alodia, Karael, JiakiDarkness and YukiGodbless, and HeroTV Anime Jockey Myrtle Sarrosa will add flavor to the All-Star Cosplay Competition as judges. The Thai Cosplayers and Myrtle will be back next day for another round of judging for Best of Anime – Word Cosplay Summit Philippine Qualifier NCR Leg.
Best of Anime 2013 also has a lot of whole day activities that everyone will enjoy. There will be a Manga Library for the mangaphiles; Figuart Galleries for the figuphiles; and different gaming booths for everyone to enjoy.
Two whole days of fun, meeting fellow otakus and learning more about the culture of Japan is what Best of Anime 2013 will bring to people this year. There will always be something new at Best of Anime as it gets better and better.
