I was recently invited to attend the Sneak Preview of LaMB, Animax Asia’s first original animation production for online, mobile and TV, at My Cinema, Greenbelt 3 Ayala Center.
The invitation said that Registration and Cocktails will start at 6pm so I thought that they would start the sneak preview at 7pm. Even though I left home early, I arrived around 6:30pm ‘cos of the damn traffic at Edsa.
Forgot it was a Friday, which is always traffic-heavy everywhere, and it’s even Friday the 13th! O_O
Anyway, I found out later that the LaMB Sneak Preview will start at 8pm, so there’s lots of time to eat, mingle with the crowd and take some photos. ^^

It’s interesting to note that Jasmine was conceptualized by Manila-based Chester Ocampo, a Filipino Digital Illustrator whose works has been featured in Animax, Cartoon Network, Mitsubishi, Peach Blossom Media and Summit Media, to name a few.
Sonia, another Animax Asia Original Character.
Marc Anthony Reyman, the 1st place winner in Animax’s LaMB Blogging Contest.
A cool LaMB bag freebie which the organizers gave away to the attendees, along with a press kit and a poster.
Cocktail food! Yummy! ^_^

A brief synopsis of LaMB:
The inhabitants of a harsh desert planet called Cerra have perfected a system of imprisonment without walls. Called ‘Lamination’, those convicted of serious crimes are imprisoned in a laminated suit to ensure criminals remain productive, if not free, members of society in a system of virtual slavery. Prisoners are hence called ‘LaMBs’.
The system of ‘Lamination’ has made both jails and the death penalty unnecessary in a world where human ingenuity, creativity and labour continue to be precious commodities that cannot be replaced by robots or any form of artificial intelligence. This system has also sparked off philosophical debate among citizens of Cerra on whether ‘Lamination’ is ethical.
LaMB follows protagonists Eve and Jack’s struggle against planet Cerra’s ‘Lamination’ system of imprisonment. Eve is an ex-weapon specialist serving her sentence in the laminated suit having accidentally taken innocent lives in an experiment gone wrong, while Jack is a visiting scientist immersing himself in work to forget his dead wife. Inadvertently, Jack gets pulled into the politics behind the system of ‘Lamination’ and a romance with Eve…

I think at this point Quark forgot the name of his co-host and called her Grace.
