Ninja Scroll live-action movie to be produced by Warner Bros.
posted by Jay on October 27th, 2008

Warner Brothers and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company have just acquired the live-action adaptation rights to the anime cult classic, Ninja Scroll. Ninja Scroll is based on Yoshiaki Kawajiri’s tale about a wandering ninja fighting a conspiracy of demons. Kawajiri also directed the original anime with ultraviolent yet fluid animation.
The screenwriter for the live-action film will be Alex Tse (Watchmen, The Illustrated Man) while Appian Way will produce along with Madhouse, the anime studio responsible for the original Ninja Scroll anime movie.
Here’s hoping that Leonardo DiCaprio won’t be cast as the lead character, Jubei.

WARNER BROS TAKING OVER NINJA SCROLL.
Warner Bros has the rights to the Ninja Scroll project right now but the other production company Threshold Entertainment had the rights to the project but nothing happened by that time but i think Threshold is still involved on the Ninja Scroll movie so now Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way will produce this film as well.
Alex Tse of the Watchmen fame will write the script for the movie so I think that Sean Catherine Derek has written the script for Ninja Scroll.
Threshold are still working out studio companies for the Mortal Kombat movie remake so they can still co-produce Ninja Scroll with Warner Bros and Appian Way.
Thank you.
